The extraordinary life of the Venerable Bede (AD 673 - 735) created a rich legacy that is celebrated today at Bede's World, Jarrow, where Bede lived and worked 1300 years ago.
Bede's World's attractions include interactive exhibitions in our stunning museum building. Alongside the museum, Bede's World has developed Gyrwe, an Anglo-Saxon demonstration farm, which brings together the animals, timber buildings, crops and vegetables that would feature in the Northumbrian landscape of Bede's Day.
Bede's World also has a medieval herb garden, gift shop, cafe and a lively and wide ranging programme of events and temporary exhibitions.
