“The Wylam brand has been enthusiastically received by our customers and I am sure their beers will continue to prosper in the months ahead. We have designed our Wylam beer tasting to give our customers an overview of the vast selection of beers available in the Windows Bar."

WYLAM BREWERY was set up in a disused dairy on a farm near Heddon on the Wall (on Hadrian's Wall) in May 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton driven by their passion for real ale. It was three months in the building and the first cask was produced in August that year. The brewery grew rapidly on the strength of the quality of its ales, winning awards at festivals around the UK. They outgrew the original 1000L plant in 2006 and brought on stream a new 3500L plant in August in a bespoke barn conversion. Since then they have enjoyed continued strong growth.

Silent Sound Tickets

Silent Sound Tickets AV Festival 10 presents the remarkable Silent Sound by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard on Sunday 7th March 2010 at Middlesbrough Town Hall. The work features an original score by J. Spaceman (from the band Spiritualized) and an introduction on the night by Dr. Ciaran O’Keeffe from Living TV’s ‘Most Haunted’.

AV Festival 10 is delighted to offer Culture Club members a pair of free tickets to this performance. Limited places are available for a free coach departing Newcastle 5pm and returning from Middlesbrough 8pm.

Silent Sound is conceived as an otherworldly experiment using controversial mind control technology to transmit a subliminal message during a live music performance. The composition for the project by J. Spaceman is designed to carry the subliminal message. Silent Sound sets out to warp your perception and stage a remarkable experience loaded with potential which intensifies your experience of being in the here-and-now. Drawing on the powerful psychological set-up of 19th century Spiritualist public performances and inspired by Victorian entertainers The Davenport Brothers who were famed for attempting to contact the souls of the dead using their ‘spirit cabinet’, Iain and Jane will perform inside their own specially created soundproof cabinet. From the stage inside this cabinet they will repeatedly broadcast a spoken ‘message’, this signal is fed into a custom-made Silent Sound machine, which subliminally embeds the message within the music and transmits it throughout the duration of the performance.

The event will be recorded live and a CD will be given to everyone in the audience as they leave. A limited edition of the CD will also be available following the event.

For more details about Silent Sound visit: http://www.avfestival.co.uk/programme/10/events/silent-sound

Please note that doors open at 6.00pm and there will be no admission after 6.30pm. The performance lasts for 1 hour.

Preview screening for ‘I Love you Phillip Morris’

Preview screening for ‘I Love you Phillip Morris’ Culture Club members have 100 places for a preview screening of ‘I love you Phillip Morris’ on Tuesday March 9 at 6:30pm at The Odeon Gateshead. The improbable but true story of a spectacularly charismatic conman’s journey from small-town businessman to flamboyant white-collar criminal, who repeatedly finds himself in trouble with the law and on the lam, brilliantly escaping from the Texas prison system on four separate occasions – all in the name of love.

Steven Russell (Jim Carrey) leads a seemingly average life – an organ player in the local church, happily married to Debbie (Leslie Mann), and a member of the local police force. That is until he has a severe car accident that leads him to the ultimate epiphany: he’s gay and he’s going to live life to the fullest – even if he has to break the law to do it. Taking on an extravagant lifestyle, Steven turns to cons and fraud to make ends meet and is eventually sent to the State Penitentiary where he meets the love of his life, a sensitive, soft-spoken man named Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). His devotion to freeing Phillip from jail and building the perfect life together prompts him to attempt (and often succeed at) one impossible con after another. Told with an uncanny sense of humour and a lot of heart, “I Love You Phillip Morris” is an oddball tale of what can happen when the legal system, a daredevil spirit and undying love collide.
